Andy Hall

Pupil

Originally from Chester, Andy relocated to Sussex to undertake pupillage with Westgate Chambers.

Prior to pupillage, Andy balanced two part-time roles as a County Court Advocate and as a Barrister’s Assistant.

As a County Court Advocate, Andy worked under the supervision of his instructing solicitor and attended over 800 civil hearings heard in chambers in County Courts throughout the North-West and beyond.

These cases involved a range of hearing types and subject matter, including small claim trials (non-PI RTAs, assigned debt, parking disputes, and other general contract disputes), applications for summary judgment or to set-aside judgment, repossessions (mortgage, rent, and orders for sale), return of goods, insolvency, MOJ stage 3 approval hearings, and many others.

As a Barrister’s Assistant, Andy worked closely with a CPS Crown Advocate with a visual impairment.  As such Andy was responsible for assessing and describing visual evidence, assisting with case preparation and research, and attending hearings.

Andy’s forensic approach led to him undertaking a secondment with the Financial Conduct Authority where he was praised for both his personable nature and fantastic work ethic.
