At Westgate Chambers we take your personal data protection very seriously. We do not store any personal data, sensitive or not, that could be used to identify a living person directly or indirectly.
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is important new legislation in the area of data protection. Developed by the European Union, it’s designed to strengthen individuals’ rights regarding the collection, use and storage of their personal data.
From time to time, we may need to change our privacy statement because of changes in our organisation, or in our attempts to serve your needs better. We will use reasonable efforts to publish any changes to our privacy statement.
What information do we gather?
Our website or any plugins or modules therein do not collect any sensitive personal data. We do not store spreadsheet, documents or databases of such content either on this website. We do not run a mailing list.
Our website analytics plugin does capture your IP computer address and attempts to approximate your location based on publicly available information, in order to provide us with insights in our website visitor reports, but we can in no way link this to you personally.
It is possible your details may have been recorded on social media if you have replied to or commented on any content we have posted, however this is due to the actions of those platform providers and again, none of this information is stored by Westgate Chambers in any form.
There may be other times when we may need to gather specific information from you such as your name and address, among other personal information. Information that is essential for us to provide the services that are requested by you is generally designated as “Required”.
In such cases, similar to our contact form, sensitive personal data you provide is not stored on the website, included only in the alert email sent to Westgate staff so that they can contact you.
The choice of how much personally identifiable information you disclose to us is completely at your discretion. It is never mandatory for you to answer any question, although it may limit the services that we are able to offer.
How do we use personal information?
When you submit sensitive personal information to us, you can rest assured we will not be sharing those details with anyone outside of Westgate Chambers, our subsidiaries, and affiliates. The data may be stored in a form in any of the countries where we, our subsidiaries, and affiliates, do business.
What choices do you have about how your personal information is used and what is our commitment to data quality and reliability?
We respect your privacy and do not run an email list. When you engage Westgate Chambers, we will always respect your personal information. You will not receive special offers or information from us outside of the business or affairs about which you have engaged us.
Do we share the information that we gather with third parties?
We do not share data with third parties. Please note, however, that certain customer records must be maintained by us for legal and accountability reasons after the completion of our business dealings.
What is our commitment to data security?
We recognize your concern for security, and will use reasonable efforts to establish secure connections with you and to limit access to databases containing personal information to authorized personnel only.
What are our contact procedures?
If you believe we have not adhered to our privacy statement, or if you would like to update your personal information, you may notify us by e-mail, telephone, fax, or postal mail. We will use reasonable efforts to promptly resolve any issues.
