Harry prosecutes and defends in all areas of Crime.

Additional Information

Harry joined chambers in December 2013 following successful completion of his pupillage.  He now enjoys a busy practice in the Criminal Courts all over the South of England. He has been instructed in wide range of criminal cases involving serious allegations of violence, drugs, dishonesty and sexual offences. Harry has tackled complex legal issues in many of these cases and his experience includes multi-defendant trials and “expert heavy” cases for both the prosecution and the defence.

Specialist and Non-Criminal Casework

Harry has acted for the prosecution and defence in a number of specialist proceedings. Casework for the Crown includes acting for the CPS special crime and counterterrorism unit, civil applications for the police, instruction in complex protester cases and cases involving high profile witnesses or Defendants such as serving Members of Parliament and TV personalities.  Specialist defence work has included RSPCA cases, cash forfeiture proceedings and inquests.

Recent Cases

Criminal Defence:

  • R v T – Instructed to represent a Defendant facing a charge of drug importation at Croydon Crown Court. The Defendant is alleged to have brought a large quantity of Cocaine into the UK through Gatwick Airport.
  • R v O – Instructed to represent a professional boxer in a case of dangerous driving, attacking numerous police officers and causing actual bodily harm to one. The trial was heard at Wood Green Crown Court.
  • R v L – Instructed to represent a Defendant charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent at Chichester and Guildford Crown Courts. The case involved careful consideration of psychiatric material and the interaction of intoxication with mental health conditions.
  • R v B – Instructed to represent a Defendant facing a string of sexual charges involving children at Lewes Crown Court. These included allegations of inciting sexual activity with a child over the Internet.
  • R v M – Instructed to represent a young Defendant facing charges of making indecent images. The case, which arose out of an investigation out of the jurisdiction, was heard at Isleworth Crown Court.
  • R v I – Converting Criminal Property trial at Isleworth Crown Court. The Defendant was accused of laundering a vast number of stolen IPhones through Apple’s Repair or Replace scheme. The trial involved extensive analysis of telephone records and transaction data.
  • R v S – Instructed to represent a Defendant charged with seven others in a conspiracy to defraud at Basildon Crown Court. The case concerns the condition of animals upon their sale.
  • R v B – Instructed to represent the Defendant in a counterfeit goods case at Isleworth Crown Court. The indictment contains 10 counts alleging corporate and managerial responsibility for criminal conduct.
  • R v AU and the others – Robbery and sexual assault trial of 5 defendants in the Youth Court.  A number of the victim witnesses were children and the case was granted a certificate for counsel due to the complexity and severity of the allegations.

Criminal Prosecution

Harry became a Grade 2 Crown Prosecutor in early 2015.

  • R v K - Case of assisting an offender and perverting the course of Justice at Reading Crown Court. The case arose out of a stabbing, the alleged perpetrator having been acquitted after a separate trial.
  • R v K - National Crime Association investigation concerning the importation of 5kgs of Amphetamine through the Eurotunnel. The trial, at Canterbury Crown Court, involved extensive analysis of satellite navigation downloads.
  • R v F – Allegations of false imprisonment and causing grievous bodily harm in a domestic context at Reading Crown Court. It was alleged the Defendant ambushed his former partner outside her home and imprisoned her within, threatening her with a knife and kicking her to the face.
  • R v W – Trial of grievous bodily harm with intent and witness intimidation at Canterbury Crown Court. The case involved extensive consideration of telephone and transaction data.
  • R v G – Acted for the Crown in relation to a charge of Grievous Bodily Harm at Guildford Crown Court. The Case involved extensive CCTV analysis and the examination of many witnesses produced over video-link from outside the jurisdiction.
  • R v B – A week long trial of a “road rage” hammer attack allegation at Reading Crown Court. The Crown’s case was that the Defendant had attacked a man in front of his family, outside their house, following an argument about driving.
  • R v OB – Instructed to represent the Crown relation to a stabbing, arising out of a family feud, at Isleworth Crown Court.

Professional Interests

Harry is part of the large group of barristers at Westgate Chambers that deliver presentations and advice to clients for professional development. Harry recently played a key role in training Drug Experts as part of a course run by Sussex Police.

Harry acts as a mentor to student barristers through the Lincoln’s Inn Debating Society.

Other Interests

Outside the law, Harry has a keen enthusiasm for all sport; particularly rugby, squash and skiing. He enjoys Opera and Cinema.
