Called 2011

Introduction

Christopher is instructed to represent clients in both the criminal and family courts.

He is currently handling several cases in public law care proceedings and private law child arrangements disputes.

Alongside a busy family practice, he regularly appears in the Magistrates’ Courts prosecuting and defending.

During his first six months at Westgate, Christopher’s time was divided equally between the criminal and family teams. He followed senior counsel, affording him the opportunity to see the full spectrum of Westgate’s practice areas.

Prior to starting pupillage Christopher had gained experience in a variety of roles both at home and abroad.

He spent two years at a US law firm working in their busy litigation department. During his time at the firm he worked on two international human rights cases under Managing Partner, Lord Goldsmith QC.

He went on to spend six months working in Rwanda alongside a team of humanitarian lawyers. This involved a leading role on their Juvenile Prisoners’ Project and regularly travelling the country to teach on Child Rights under the UNCRC. He played an active part in Rwandese Ministry of Justice roundtables, supporting the development of their legal aid policy.

Christopher then lived and worked for a year in Paris, for a law firm specialising in the field of international bribery and corruption compliance.

Just before commencing pupillage, as Middle Temple’s Anglo Israel Scholar, he stayed in Tel Aviv where he worked in a law firm and shadowed the work of judges in the civil and criminal courts.
