Additional Information

Amanda specialises in complex care proceedings.  She represents local authorities, parents, children and other family members.  The majority of her cases involve non accidental injury, including multi disciplinary medical issues, sexual abuse, and/or chronic neglect.  She also appears in adoption and Special Guardianship Order matters.

She is often instructed in matters with an international element.  Recently, she has been involved in cases with Czech, Polish, Pakistani, Australian, Thai and Greek nationals.

She is very approachable, sensible and empathetic.  She is the barrister of choice for solicitors with vulnerable clients, especially those with a learning disability, mental health difficulties and/or victims of domestic violence.   Amanda explains complicated and emotive information to clients in a sensitive and easily understandable way.

Amanda also accepts instructions in straightforward matrimonial finance cases and is well placed to represent clients in disputes relating to both children and finances.  She represents parents at School Admissions Appeal Tribunal hearings.  In addition, Amanda has a small, but growing, civil/quasi-civil practice including small claims, infant settlements, Education Welfare prosecution, and injunctions, including domestic violence remedies.

Amanda has a pragmatic approach to all her cases and is able to recognise when it is favourable to negotiate a compromise and/or settlement and when it is the client’s best interests to take the case to a contest in court.

Amanda served in the Royal Navy before being called to the Bar and is a member of the Association of Military Court Advocates.

She has 2 young children and is a School Governor.
